Iolanthe, September 2009

The Gilbert and Sullivan Society of WA Inc was proud to present IOLANTHE (or The Peer and the Peri) with words by WS Gilbert and Music by Arthur Sullivan.

With Conrad Crisafulli, Rhiannon Harris, Michael Heap, Janis Laing, Chris D Lewis, Anita Saftich, Veronica Santoro, Steve Sherwood, David Woodward, with Katja Webb, plus full chorus and orchestra.

Director: John Milson

Musical Director: Daniel Masmanian

Settings by Brad Reid.

This deliciously fanciful Victorian nonsense is now 127 years olf and remains as fresh and zany as ever. Gilbert's play brings an army of fairies into direct warfare with the entire British House of Lords, in a wickedly imaginative fashion! And Sullivan's music, long regarded by both scholars and audiences as among his very best, is charming and - at moments - deeply moving.

Below are some photographs from the September 2009 production of Iolanthe. Go to our Gallery page for more. Congratulations to all involved.
