This deliciously fanciful Victorian nonsense is now 127 years olf and remains as fresh and zany as ever. Gilbert’s play brings an army of fairies into direct warfare with the entire British House of Lords, in a wickedly imaginative fashion! And Sullivan’s music, long regarded by both scholars and audiences as among his very best, is charming and – at moments – deeply moving.
