The Gilbert and Sullivan Society of WA AGM was held on Wednesday, 15 February at their Rehearsal Hall in Nollamara. A good number of current financial and Life Members were in attendance and a quorum was achieved.
Formal proceedings included the presentation of the President’s Report by Kevin Langoulant, the Treasurer’s Report by Glenn Rowan, the Library Report by Anne Poepjes, and the Wardrobe Report by Veronica Hudson.
A number of roles on the board were vacated, and with the exception of one, all Board members standing for re-election were returned. Janis Laing has stepped down from the Board. Anne Poepjes stood for election and has been elected to the Board as a General Member. We thank Janis most appreciatively for her many, many years of volunteer service to our Society. We welcome Anne to the Board of the Gilbert and Sullivan Society of WA. We thank Evan Lovell for his assistance in the election of office bearers and board members.
At this AGM Honour Boards which were discussed at the 2022 AGM were revealed detailing the Society’s Life Members and Presidents. Max Page OAM organised and managed this project and all present were delighted by the outcome. The Honour Boards have been donated to the Society by the A.N. Bullock Trust and will be mounted in the G&S WA Hall.
Life Member certificates which were outstanding since 2017 were presented to recipients present. Gail Reading was nominated and received a certificate for 2023.
A defibrillator has been obtained and is prominently displayed in the Hall, located next to the Kitchen. In addition to written instructions at the cabinet, ten members who regularly frequent or are present at the Hall have received training in how to use this life-saving device.
In other business, new “Rules of Incorporation” are required and being prepared. New rental rates now apply to City of Stirling Council.
The next AGM is scheduled for Wed 21st February 2024.
