The Savoy Singers performs shows as varied as choral or musical concerts to abridged versions of Gilbert & Sullivan and other one act musicals.
Our changing format is to keep our performances fresh, exciting and interesting for both singers and audiences alike.
Our concerts have included well-known songs from Broadway musicals, opera choruses by well-known composers such as Verdi, and wonderful choral arrangements of popular songs such as You Raise Me Up and Over the Rainbow.
In 1975 the Committee (now Board) decided to establish a permanent chorus for touring and training productions. In 1990 the group was christened the Savoy Singers, though it has also gone by Savoy Opera Chorale. This flexible and varied group of singers / performers has performed many mini-productions and concerts for members and friends. In the past they have been active in taking concert parties to outside bodies such as retirement villages.
Musical directors in recent years have included Justin Freind, Max Page, Janis Laing and Michael Brett. We now welcome Taui Pinker, a most versatile singing director, award winning musical director and pianist.
If you would like to consider joining the choir, please feel free to come along to the G&S WA Hall – Corner Lemana Road and Ravenswood Court, Nollamara any Tuesday night before rehearsal starts at 7:00 PM, or contact Max Page – 0408 386 164 for more information. No experience necessary, all welcome.
